Association Ribbon

Image of the association ribbon

The association ribbon is one of the official emblems of Skripti, decided upon by the association's meeting in the spring of 2023. All members of Skripti ry have the right to purchase and wear the Skripti association ribbon at academic celebrations or when otherwise representing the association. The wearer of the ribbon also represents Skripti ry, so academic customs, behavior, and attire must be appropriate to the dignity of the ribbon and the association.

How to Wear the Ribbon?

The ribbon can be worn in two ways depending on the attire. Traditionally, when wearing a dress, the ribbon is worn folded into a rosette on the left side of the chest, ensuring it does not touch bare skin. Instructions for folding the rosette are below. With a suit, the ribbon is worn straight over the right shoulder to the left hip. With a tailcoat, the ribbon goes under the waistcoat, and with a dark suit, it goes over the waistcoat and tie.

  1. Place the ribbon with the glossy side down and measure out a 9 cm piece.
  2. Fold a 4.5 cm long piece of the ribbon so that the top part is the glossy side.
  3. Fold the rest of the ribbon over the fold so that the length of the rosette remains 9 cm.
  4. Fold the ribbon back again, leaving about a 1 cm gap from the previous fold.
  5. Repeat so that the other side has a fold of the same size and appearance.
  6. Fold one more time in the other direction, leaving a 1 cm gap to the previous fold. Repeat for the other side.
  7. You should now have 3 folds on each side. After the last folds, turn the rest of the ribbon up at about a 45-degree angle so that the glossy side remains visible.
  8. Wrap the excess ribbon around the rosette so that a neat square remains in the front.
  9. Make sure the end of the ribbon is at the back; trim the excess tail if necessary.
  10. Attach a safety pin to the back for fastening. You can optionally add small stitches through the back layers, but they will also stay in place with a safety pin.
